Universiti Malaya Ips, Ips is the Institute of Postgraduate Studies and the institute falls under the Institute of Graduate Studies [IGS]. The Institute of Graduate Studies (IPS) is the Graduate Centre for UM. Since its inception in 1979, IGS has inspired to promote excellent multidisciplinary research and postgraduate training in order to meet the growingdemands and development of the modern era. The number of postgraduate students has increased significantly over the years. There are currently over 10,000 students with about 2,500 international students from 80 countries.
Under the Dean’s office are the Postgraduate Admissions, Examination, Finance, and student development activities. With cooperation of other academic establishments of the university, these sections oversee the academic progress, finance and postgraduate students activities.

The Institute of Graduate Studies (IGS) , which is known as the Graduate Centre for University of Malaya since its inception in 1979, has continuously strives with dedication to promote excellent multidisciplinary research and postgraduate training. Having said that , it is also proudly upholds the traditions and standards of excellence in teaching and research by offering many upskills programs, opportunities and a platform for the sharing & shaping of ideas with the university scholars. Currently, IGS manages over 10,000 students with about 2,300 international students from more than 80 countries.
Being a premier Research University in this country, the University of Malaya, confers degrees in a large variety of academic programmes at the Master’s and PhD levels. IGS also offers dual PhD degrees with more than 20 highly reputable universities in many parts of this world as the partner university . To name a few, the University of Melbourne (Australia), University of Nottingham (United Kingdom, University of Kyoto (Japan) and the Consortium of Presidents of Universities (CPU) in France.
